Saragossa meeting: TPM and LTTA

As part of the “Europe for VET+ 2” project, a training and an international meeting took place in Zaragoza on November 16-19 with partners from Poland, Italy and Spain. The aim of the event was to improve the quality of student internships in companies
and to develop tools for internship mentors.

On November 16-19, the partners of the KA2 “Europe for VET+ 2” project met in Zaragoza. The meeting was organized for several reasons. On the one hand, there was a transnational meeting of partners from Poland, Italy and Spain. But in addition, training was also conductedon the occasion. All this with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of Erasmus+ student internships in companies and developing tools to facilitate the work of internship mentors.

The meeting in Zaragoza served to work on COMPENDIUM, a guide for internship mentors for Erasmus+ students, and METRICA, an assessment system that will be used to analyze companies hosting internships.

To develop these tools, the project members carried out several activities that helped them to get to know different points of view and exchange good practices:

Visit to SWIFT ENGLISH

The partners visited the SWIFT ENGLISH language academy, where the owner and student mentor, Gemma O’Reilly, shared her experience with Erasmus+ students and talked about the role of a student mentor in the company, the professional skills and personal attitude of the desired mentor in order to provide students with the highest quality internships and professional and personal development.

Interviews with VET teachers in their centers

During the LTTA, other interesting meetings with Vocational Training Centers were held: IES Virgen del Pilar in Zaragoza and IES Tubalcain in Tarazona (online meeting). Erasmus+ teachers and coordinators shared their point of view on the role of a mentor in the company, what preparation should they receive before accepting students? It was an excellent opportunity to exchange good practices and obtain more useful information to prepare a compendium and train mentors best suited to their needs.

Session with Jorge Zazaga from Mundus

Participants also had the opportunity to meet the head of the business department of Mundus, Jorge Zazaga, to talk about his extensive experience with the business world and the wide network of companies he works with (under the Erasmus+ program). Jorge shared his experience of working with mentors from all sectors from Zaragoza, giving his point of view on the special needs of the mentor that the project could meet with its results. He also gave ideas about the type of training and information in the compendium that could be useful in preparing mentors to welcome students to companies.
